Hi, I’m Johanna, I live in New Hampshire with my husband and two children. While I have lived in a number of places, I have deep roots in the east coast and the maritimes. I have a strong preference for foggy places by the sea.
Making art is in my blood. I come from a long line of strong, female artists. Creativity, design, and imagination were all integral parts of my childhood. These took shape in seeing the way my mother decorated the house for each season with an array of homemade decorations, how I was allowed to have free range of my mother’s craft supplies (except her good sewing scissors), and how I was exposed to the crafts of my grandmothers and saw how they made their worlds more beautiful despite their humble means.
I like being able to share my passion and keeping things down to earth. All too often our culture makes art a lofty and pretentious thing, and to put it simply: I think that’s wrong. I have seen first hand how places and spaces can be made beautiful with intentionality and elbow grease instead of a big price tag.
By offering the simple raw product, I can offer more affordable pricing.
Aside from the inspiration of my mother and grandmothers, artists like Beatrix Potter, Maud Lewis, Graciela Iturbide, and Frida Kahlo all contribute to my eclectic style. Nature will always be what inspires me most to create.
